DAOmatch Landscape
The state of the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) landscape - January 2022
We are on a mission to match creators, investors, contributors, builders, artists, job seekers, collectors, fundraisers, and the curious with DAO's. On DAOmatch, we have curated and categorized DAO's offering opportunities to get involved, so you don't have to. We are excited to share our latest DAOmatch Landscape to provide a more holistic view of the DAO ecosystem:
DAO Categories
As you can see, there is a wide range of DAO’s. Unlike other DAOscapes, we have categorized DAO’s by industry vs. structure (e.g., protocol or grant):
Defi DAO’s - The decentralized finance use cases are vast, ranging from lending protocols (e.g., Aave) to banking (e.g., Mean) to automated market makers (e.g., Uniswap).
Media DAO’s - There has been a lot of talk about how the current media and creator business model is broken, which is why we are seeing new models for publishers (e.g., PubDAO) and content creation (e.g., Bankless DAO).
Service DAO’s- Focused on building services (e.g., PartyDAO) or offering services (e.g., Vector DAO) is one of the fast-growing types of DAO.
NFT DAO’s - Creating NFT's (e.g., NounDAO) and supporting NFT creators (e.g., OpenDAO).
Climate Change DAO’s - The success of KlimaDAO has inspired new DAO's (e.g., Diatom DAO) focused on utilizing the power of web3 to help our planet. We expect to see more DAO's launched in this spacing in the coming months.
Social DAO’s - Social DAO’s are organizing around shared interests like golfing (e.g., LinksDAO), music (e.g., SongCamp), and communities for creators (e.g., Cabin DAO).
Investment DAO's - DAO's are forming to invest in projects, companies, and creators through a wide range of DAO's structures and investment types. We have categorized these DAO's into five sub-categories:
Venture - groups investing like a typical venture fund (e.g., AngelDAO)
Incubators - providing resources and funding to new projects (e.g., DuckDAO)
Collectors - groups of people investing in NFT's and projects that align with their interests/mission (e.g., FingerprintsDAO)
Single-purpose investments - groups collaborating to purchase a specific asset (e.g., Krause House)
Gaming - investors focused on supporting and investing in the gaming/metaverse space (e.g., Yield Guild Games)
We are just getting started.
We recognize this isn't a complete list of all DAO's, which is why we are so excited to be a matchmaker in the space. We will continue to expand our coverage of DAO's to improve our match rates. Please let us know which DAO's we missed and how we can improve DAOmatch.
We are very excited about the future of DAO's and expect this landscape graphic to look much different in the coming months.
